New article out from Vox–Social justice warriors are now persecuted because their discussions of the white race aren’t automatically cheered by everyone.
Is it happening?
The other day I went out of my way, in a debate with an SJW, to fully grant his original point and “validate” his experience and feelings, and simply to note that sometimes whites are sensitive to hearing critiques of their society.
Literal response 1: Oh, so you’re trying to shut us down and keep us from expressing ourselves? You’re rejecting his experience? Racist!
Literal response 2: NO! It’s not that whites are sensitive, it’s that they’re dealing with their racial identity through a complex psycho-diagnostic process described in the work of Tim Wise, which you should read. It’s authoritative, you can’t invalidate it.
(OP’s original point, by the way, was that a commenter on an article about a double murderer was revealing the bigotry and raaaaacism of his region by expressing a desire that the double murderer be lynched.)
Today I log onto Twitter and read a Jamelle Bouie retweet: If you blame Sandra Bland for her death, then you’re sanctioning an America where obedience police state totalitarianism blah blah blah.
Back up–if I’m inclined to blame Bland for killing herself, it’s an issue with me?
Is this peak madness? Can things getter madder?
AMOG versus the cuckservatives
GOP then: Please, please give us money!
GOP now: SIEZE THAT MAN!!!
To paraphrase a commenter at Radix, Trump’s strategy, of #realtalk, reframing attacks, and not apologizing, is really wrecking his campaign. He’d better hire some Republican campaign strategists–those guys always do a bang-up job.
This is a post with an incomplete narrative arc and no point.
Packed gym. I should have the discipline to go in the morning when it’s empty, but I’m late to bed late to rise so I was there during rush hour.
Someone was using the squat rack, which makes me as angry as when no one is using the squat rack. Skinny guy doing strict overhead presses, in the squat rack, with the barbell. I can’t complain because I do the same thing–I prefer the barbell over dumbbells and the machines. When skinny guy is done strict pressing, slightly-less-skinny guy comes in to do … shallow, 65-pound squats. I just stand next to the squat rack, doing nothing, with a blank, unfocused stare at the floor, like an ice-pick killer, until I can get in there for my 5×5 at 225.
Later, while bench pressing, two guys come in, one wearing brown driving moccasins, and the other wearing brown penny loafers. It took all my strength not to ask which was Skip and which was Trip. At least they were doing something like actual work and weren’t wrapped in baby fat like 65-pound-curtsy guy.
Trump supporters
–among whom I include myself–have to admit there is no defense for his remark, “I like people who weren’t captured,” and move on.
the GOP versus the nation
It’s striking how few Republican leaders could manage respond to Donald Trump’s remarks on immigration with a valid, simple, moderate-yet-realistic thought: Trump’s comments were reckless, but identified an issue the GOP has failed to address responsibly.
Instead, figures like Graham and Steele rejected Trump entirely.
That goes far toward explaining the worth of the GOP.
