The other day I went out of my way, in a debate with an SJW, to fully grant his original point and “validate” his experience and feelings, and simply to note that sometimes whites are sensitive to hearing critiques of their society.
Literal response 1: Oh, so you’re trying to shut us down and keep us from expressing ourselves? You’re rejecting his experience? Racist!
Literal response 2: NO! It’s not that whites are sensitive, it’s that they’re dealing with their racial identity through a complex psycho-diagnostic process described in the work of Tim Wise, which you should read. It’s authoritative, you can’t invalidate it.
(OP’s original point, by the way, was that a commenter on an article about a double murderer was revealing the bigotry and raaaaacism of his region by expressing a desire that the double murderer be lynched.)
Today I log onto Twitter and read a Jamelle Bouie retweet: If you blame Sandra Bland for her death, then you’re sanctioning an America where obedience police state totalitarianism blah blah blah.
Back up–if I’m inclined to blame Bland for killing herself, it’s an issue with me?
Is this peak madness? Can things getter madder?
